Qatar Sports Investments, in collaboration with the International Padel Federation, the Professional Padel Association, and Damm (owner of Setpoint Events), has entered into an agreement to acquire the World Padel Tour (WPT). This acquisition will lead to the creation of a single global professional padel tour named Premier Padel, which will be overseen by the International Padel Federation.
In the interim, both the WPT and Premier Padel tours will continue as planned in 2023 before the process of unification begins. The World Padel Tour, established in 2013, is currently the premier tour in the sport, featuring numerous tournaments worldwide, global sponsors, and broadcasting rights in over 150 countries.
Premier Padel, launched in 2022, has rapidly gained popularity and is one of the fastest-growing tours in global sports. In its inaugural year, it attracted over 500 players from around the world and secured multi-year broadcast agreements covering more than 180 countries, reaching over 150 million households. The 2022 Premier Padel season garnered 22.7 million views on YouTube.
