Soccer Star Virgil Van Dijk Invests in Whoop

WHOOP, a performance technology company, has named Liverpool FC defender Virgil van Dijk its newest investor. He will also be a global brand ambassador.

Van Dijk will represent the Netherlands at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. He has been using WHOOP technology for monitoring and taking control of his sleep, recovery, and training — and now he is officially committed to the business.

This wearable fitness and health coach is designed to assist members in making lifestyle changes through personalized insights, actionable feedback, and personalized feedback on sleep, recovery, and strain.

Van Dijk will be an investor in the company and provide feedback on product development. This will help to shape the WHOOP product’s future.

The Netherlands captain and Liverpool FC centre half joins WHOOP as an ambassador and member. This roster includes sports stars Rory McIlroy and Michael Phelps.

van Dijk commented, “As a long-time WHOOP member, this partnership makes perfect sense for me; every percentage of improvement that you can make ultimately benefits you, and WHOOP is a tool that helps me take control of my health and be successful.

“Football seasons are always long, particularly in a World Cup year, so recovery will be even more crucial than ever. Working with WHOOP will be a huge asset in helping me ensure that I’m doing the right things to set me up to perform.”

Will Ahmed, WHOOP Founder & CEO, added, “The best athletes in the world use WHOOP to optimize their performance and Virgil is no exception.

“He’s been a long-time Whoop member, and we’re thrilled to work with him more directly as he joins our company as an investor. We’re looking forward to Virgil supporting the future direction of our product especially as we grow internationally.”
