United Basketball Leagues Announces 2024 Launch

The United Basketball League (UBL), a new professional basketball league, has been unveiled today, focusing on local teams and nurturing player talent. This unique league brings together superior minor league teams to compete at an elevated level.

Aimed at bridging a noticeable void in the basketball community, the UBL offers a platform for former basketball players from various levels to continue their competitive play. The odds of progressing from high school to professional basketball are slim, with only a fraction making it to college teams and an even smaller percentage reaching the NBA.

Recognizing basketball as a sport integral to communities, the UBL is committed to fostering talent in areas without professional basketball representation. This initiative will assist in forming professional-grade teams and help local and regional players either kickstart or advance their careers domestically or abroad.

Ricky Davis, the Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of UBL, commented on the league’s domestic focus. “Out of the thousands who play college basketball annually, only a select few make it to the NBA. Our league aims to provide these talented players a chance to represent their communities and pursue their basketball aspirations.”

In line with its community-oriented approach, the UBL introduces a pioneering Fan-to-Founder Program. This program allows fans to invest in their local teams, granting them a say in various team operations, from player selection to marketing strategies.

Moreover, the UBL is launching the Pro Ambassador Initiative. Each team will have at least three ambassadors, including professional athletes, entertainers, and influencers, who will integrate into the community based on local ties or professional influence. These ambassadors will play a key role in mentoring and providing leadership both on and off the court, enhancing community engagement and elevating the competitiveness of the league.

The UBL’s first season is set to start in September 2024 with the UBL: Showcase. This event, featuring 16 teams, will serve as an incubator, spotlighting local and regional talent and offering players an opportunity to extend their professional sports careers.
