Therabody, a pioneer in wellness technology, today unveiled its commitment of over $10M towards initiatives aimed at bolstering innovation and scientifically backing their product range. The announcement highlights the establishment of their Scientific Advisory Board and a noteworthy collaboration with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), a leading authority in exercise, physical fitness, and sports medicine research worldwide.

Amid changing regulatory environments, Therabody underscores the importance of science in leading advancements in healthcare technology for the coming decade. This substantial $10 million funding is set to support an array of scientific and clinical studies in the realms of beauty, wellness, and athletic performance over the forthcoming years. Furthermore, the company is launching its inaugural grant program to aid researchers worldwide focusing on the nexus of wellness and technology.

Therabody Commits $10 Million Investment to Science ResearchIn a strategic move, Therabody has partnered with the American College of Sports Medicine, a premier sports medicine organization globally with a membership exceeding 40,000, including physicians, scientists, educators, and health fitness professionals. As a frontrunner in athletic performance recovery, Therabody aims to sponsor and present innovative recovery therapies at the ACSM Annual Meeting in May 2024, where new developments in exercise science, practice, and policy will be discussed. The partnership also includes a joint research grant program and support for ACSM’s Strategic Health Initiative for Women, Sport, and Physical Activity, targeting women’s health and fitness.

ACSM President Irene Davis, Ph.D., FACSM, expressed excitement about the partnership, noting the aligned missions and visions of both organizations as a foundation for collaboration.

Since its inception in 2008 with the creation of Theragun by Dr. Jason Wersland, Therabody has prioritized scientific backing in its pursuit of innovation, consulting with scientific, medical, and wellness advisors for research and product development. The formal announcement of the Therabody Scientific Advisory Board introduces four leading scientific experts who will collaborate with Therabody’s science team to expand research networks, advise on research strategies and initiatives, and co-create new products within their expertise areas.
