Religion of Sports acquires European-based Media Company Jiva Maya

Religion of Sports, the sports media company that has won an Emmy Award, was founded by director and producer Gotham Chopra, American football legend and Hall of Famer Michael Strahan, and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady has acquired Jiva Maya.

Jiva Maya is a production company based in the UK that was formed in 2020 by writer and director Manish Pandey, known for his work on Senna, Grand Prix Driver, and Lucky!

This acquisition marks the second company to come under the ROS umbrella, with the first being Main Event Media, both of which were acquired in 2023.

The acquisition of Jiva Maya by ROS opens up a world of possibilities for the two companies to continue creating stories that go beyond sports and resonate with audiences worldwide.

A rise in athlete-driven media and athlete podcasts is fueling this trend further.

With a shared passion for storytelling and a deep appreciation for the transformative power of sports, the united entity plans to significantly broaden its footprint in global football, cricket, and motorsport, with a particular focus on Formula 1, for which Pandey is renowned.

The possibilities for this partnership are endless, and millions of viewers around the world stand to benefit from the impactful and inspiring content that will be produced.

“Jiva Maya allows us to plant a flag in Europe for ROS, engaging a new cadre of creators, producers and distribution networks,” said Ameeth Sankaran, CEO of Religion of Sports. “Manish and his team have enabled us to do that in a distinct and unique way that will allow us to grow with the same DNA of ultra-premium content which transcends and inspires. Gotham and our creative team couldn’t be more excited.”

Following the acquisition, Jiva Maya will take on the role of ROS’ European-based production arm and spearhead the development of global stories across a wide range of sports, including football, motorsport, cricket, and beyond.

This partnership will enable the united entity to tap into the diverse perspectives and talent of Jiva Maya’s team, which will undoubtedly contribute to the creation of even more compelling and impactful content for audiences worldwide.
