Prematch Raises 7-Figures for Grassroots Digitization

Prematch, a German soccer startup, has received a substantial seven-figure investment from prominent business angels, including soccer stars Serge Gnabry and David Raum, as well as the family office linked to Jürgen Klopp, the coach of Liverpool FC.

This marks a significant milestone in the company’s rapid growth since its app launch in 2021, which quickly dominated the app charts and attracted various investors.

Founded by Lukas Röhle, Prematch serves as a social platform specifically designed for grassroots football, encompassing all divisions below the professional level. Recently, the platform expanded its accessibility to all youth sports players in Germany.

Prematch provides each player with a personalized profile containing performance data, statistics, market value, and gamification elements, akin to platforms like LinkedIn or Instagram. Within just one year of its launch, Prematch has garnered users from 94% of all German football teams.

The platform’s core focus lies in delivering personalized grassroots soccer news and comprehensive match statistics, enhancing players’ visibility, recognition, and appreciation.

Jürgen Klopp and his family, known for their dedication to grassroots football and their affiliation with German hometown clubs SV Glatten and TuS Nieder-Eschbach, have joined as investors. Klopp, who is the head coach of Liverpool FC, emphasizes the pivotal role played by grassroots football clubs in society, serving as the fundamental basis for player development.

Serge Gnabry recently joined The Player’s Fund as a founding member as well.
