Perch, a weightlifting camera and data company, has raised $4 million in new funding. Miami Dolphins defensive back Byron Jones has joined the round as an investor.
Perch provides 3D cameras that strap to weight racks and track an athlete’s movements as they lift, calculating sets, repetitions, velocity, and power output.
The round also includes investments from Berkshire Partners co-founder Bradley Bloom and Washington DC-based Perfect Game Capital, bringing Perch’s total investment to $6 million since its founding in 2017.
Perch’s device has been used by NFL teams such as the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, and Tennessee Titans. Other customers include the USFL, Philadelphia Phillies, Orlando Magic, and Columbus Crew. Several college programs use Perch including LSU, Georgia, and Maryland.
Perch’s three co-founders are all graduate engineers from MIT ━ Jacob Rothman, Nate Rodman, and Jordan Lucier. Former student-athletes themselves, they wanted to build something that changes the way athletes lift.
