Peter Thiel, the billionaire co-founder of PayPal, has invested in the Enhanced Games, an Olympic alternative that embraces the use of substances typically banned in most elite sports.
The Enhanced Games, conceived by London-based attorney Aron D’Souza, recently completed a Series Seed funding round. This funding round attracted several venture capitalists, marking a significant multi-million dollar investment that is crucial for the development and expansion of the games.
Joining Thiel, whose net worth is close to $10 billion, are Christian Angermayer’s Apieron Investment Group, known for their focus on life sciences and psychedelics, and Balaji Srinivasan, the former chief technology officer at Coinbase.
D’Souza expressed his gratitude for the support from Thiel, Angermayer, Srinivasan, and other investors. He highlighted their shared belief in a new sports model that openly acknowledges and celebrates scientific advancements and the current reality of performance enhancement in sports. In contrast to the Olympics, the Enhanced Games aim to fairly compensate and reward athletic excellence, supported by top venture capitalists.
Angermayer shared his enthusiasm for the Enhanced Games, aligning with its pioneering spirit and mission. He sees the Games as a platform not just for safer and fairer competition but also as a catalyst for scientific innovation and human progression.
