Jaylon Smith, former Notre Dame linebacker, is investing in JINYA Ramen Bar and plans to open his first restaurant in South Bend, across from the campus of Notre Dame. Additionally, Smith is investing in JINYA locations across the United States.
“Joining the restaurant industry and opening a unique take on Japanese cuisine and bringing the ramen culture at my alma mater is the best way I know to give back to that community and reach the future generations that will pass through Notre Dame’s campus,” Smith stated.
Founded in 2010 by Tomo Takahashi, JINYA has 53 locations and is constantly improving its menu with the Japanese practice of kaizen. The restaurant places emphasis on the quality of its broth, noodles, and water used in the preparation process, and customers can also customize their dishes.
Jaylon Smith was introduced to Takahashi through his business manager, Michael V Ledo, Founder & CEO of RISE Advisors.
“Jaylon and I dedicated over 12 months to building a solid relationship with JINYA’s leadership; I am confident in their product, process, service, and overall vision,” said Ledo.
It’s cool to see athletes continue to dive into entrepreneurship, investing, and ownership.
