Giannis Antetokounmpo, the two-time NBA MVP and seven-time NBA All-Star, recently announced a significant investment in the Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC) as part of a collaboration with his three brothers.
The Antetokounmpo brothers, including Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex, will be joining notable figures like Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian, and Venus Williams as co-owners of the Los Angeles-based franchise.
LAGC serves as the inaugural franchise for the upcoming TGL (Team Golf League), a cutting-edge team golf league created by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports, in collaboration with the PGA TOUR. The league is set to tee off its first season in January 2024, promising an exciting fusion of technology and golfing excellence.
“We want to make golf our own and for everybody,” the Bucks star wrote on social media. “We couldn’t be more excited to shape the future of this sport.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s investment in LAGC expands their portfolio of major league sports teams, following their previous stakes in Major League Baseball’s Milwaukee Brewers and Major League Soccer’s Nashville SC.
As part of the inaugural season of TGL (Team Golf League), LAGC is among the first three teams announced, alongside Boston and Atlanta. Currently, a roster of 12 PGA TOUR stars has committed to participating in TGL, including legends like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, along with other top talents such as Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, and more.
