Tully Banta-Cain, a two-time Super Bowl Champion, has revealed his exciting new sports and entrepreneurial venture: the Beach Football League (BFL). This innovative league introduces a one-of-a-kind tackle football event to be played on sandy shores.
Scheduled to commence in February 2024, the Beach Football League will surprise fans with its inaugural season’s location, following a highly anticipated draft and launch party in Las Vegas during the week of Super Bowl LVIII.
This groundbreaking event marks the establishment of a brand-new league, inviting professional and amateur football players to compete at stunning beaches across the United States and abroad, starting from June 2024 and continuing annually.
This comes at a time of leagues taking on athletes as founding partners like the National Cycling League.
The Beach Football League has already garnered significant attention, with notable participants confirmed for the inaugural event. The lineup includes renowned coach Corey Dillon, Hall of Famer Terrell Owens, and Future Hall of Famer Pacman Jones, alongside a host of professional football players such as Patrick Willis, Dexter McCluster, Lorenzo Alexander, Bryant McKinnie, Prince Amukamara, Tre Williams, Jamie Collins, Devin McCourty, and many more soon to be announced.
“Minority ownership is rare among leagues so I’m extremely proud to be embarking on this journey with my teammates, friends, and other players from the NFL. Tackle beach football has never been played on a pro level in history, and I’m so thrilled to offer it for the first time through the Beach Football League. We are creating a safe and lower-impact alternative for the players while giving fans an interactive opportunity to be involved with a new inclusive league.” – Tully Banta-Cain, Founder of the Beach Football League
This comes as athletes continue to invest in leagues and the lens shifts from endorsement to ownership.
