3STEP Sports Has Acquired Youth Club NBBA

3STEP Sports, the nation’s largest and most impactful youth sports club and event operator, has acquired North Bay Basketball Academy (NBBA), adding another elite youth club and event operator which will serve as a foundation for 3STEP’s growth of basketball in California and the Pacific Northwest.

Rick Winter, a high-profile California basketball coach, founded NBBA in 2010. He wanted to help young players learn the fundamentals of the game and mold them into leaders within the community.

The North Bay Basketball Academy started with a set of skill clinics that were free and focused on fundamentals and man-to-man defense. The first clinic attracted more than 250 children, and the next spring saw 28 teams being formed.

The NBBA has grown from Marin to Sonoma County over the years and now fields more than 130 teams every year in the spring and fall seasons. 44 ex-NBBA players are now playing college basketball at the next level, including 11 females and 33 males.

The college recruiting and youth space continue to be impacted by technology and camps.

NBBA also runs clinics and camps all year. It also has a kindergarten-through-second grade league where coaches are high school coaches.

It has donated more than $100,000 to scholarships each year to help the community and provided free skills clinics and summer camps to schools in the North Bay.

3STEP Sports has a reach that spans 43 states. It serves more than 3 million athletes in nine sports via industry-leading events and club programs. David Geaslen founded 3STEP to provide better opportunities and experiences for athletes and their families.

3STEP also manages Mission Win, a non-profit charity that aims to improve the lives of children by providing leadership training, professional development, and sports participation.
