Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams is launching an investment firm named “888 Midas,” as reported by Bloomberg. The firm will focus on private equity, venture capital, and real estate investments.
“I always planned on being both an athlete and a businessman,” Williams stated to Business Wire. “As I’ve achieved many of my athletic goals and dreams, various business opportunities have also emerged.”
Williams will have four partners managing the firm while he concentrates on his football career.
Prominent partners and advisors leading the venture include Sherif Guirgis, former managing director at Main Street Advisors; Lew Wolff, chairman at Wolff Urban; John Terizan, co-founder and co-president of h.wood Group; and Ross Walker, co-founder and managing partner of Hawkins Way Capital.
“Athletes are often overwhelmed with and distracted by these opportunities. To avoid distractions, it was crucial for me to establish a business operation with reliable, trusted partners and advisors I’ve known for years to strategically capitalize on ventures in the global marketplace,” said Williams.
“This partnership will allow me to dedicate my full attention to mastering professional football and bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to Chicago where it belongs.”
Williams has shown a strong interest in business ventures as the 2024 NFL Draft approached. During his time at USC, he became one of the highest-paid collegiate athletes through NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deals, earning approximately $10 million from endorsements, according to The Athletic.
He also expressed interest in owning an NFL team as the draft drew near. Similarly, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers voiced the same interest upon his trade to New York. However, the NFL recently implemented a policy prohibiting players from owning a stake in their respective teams.
Williams has yet to sign his rookie contract, which, according to Spotrac, is expected to be valued at $38.4 million over four years with a mandatory fifth-year option.
In addition to his upcoming rookie contract, Williams now has an investment firm working on his behalf.
“I’m thrilled to have 888 Midas working for me and excited about its potential growth as an investment and advisory entity in the future,” said Williams.
